Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 Long Exposure Modification

Killing the Bright Green LED

There is a bright green LED built onto the camera circuitboard. Although the completed modified camera enclosure will not easily allow light from the LED onto the CCD, it is best to kill this LED entirely so as to avoid any possibility of having long exposures ruined by it.

The LED is the small golden-looking rectangle centered right over the lens.
I painted over it with black acrylic paint; ordinary model or artist paint will do fine. Be sure to test it in the dark and keep painting it until you kill every last drop of green light.
